TATAMI
BIESSE - 2018
The padded Tatami is inspired by the Japanese mats of the same name.In fact, it consists of a wooden platform suspended between the backrest and the feet on which seat cushions of different sizes and colors are placed and fixed with Velcro in a free sequence. The aesthetic linearity of the traditional sofa gives way to a product with a very varied and heterogeneous character, customizable and modifiable over time by the end user in the forms; never equal to itself, with a constantly changing formal rhythm. The lateral ends can indifferently be armrests, seat or side table. The setting of the sofa has a strongly architectural imprint, where the monolithic back becomes the load-bearing volume well placed on the ground on which the "floating" platform overhangs both laterally and frontally.
